1 fresh cauliflower head
2-3 cups of oil for frying
For the batter:
1 cup flour
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup water
For the sauce:
1/3 cup Raspberry Hot Sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. honey
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tsp. rice wine vinegar
For garnish (optional):
Greens onions, chopped
Sesame seeds
1. Heat oil in a cast iron skillet or frying pan to 365 degrees F.
2. Wash and dry cauliflower and then cut into small pieces.
3. Pour dry ingredients into a medium bowl for batter. Then add water and stir until smooth. If the batter is too thick add water (1 tablespoon at a time) until it thins out.
4. With tongs, dip the cauliflower into the batter, shake off the excess, and then fry in oil until golden. Place the fried cauliflower pieces on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt.
5. Next make the sauce by pouring all of the ingredients into a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat until it starts to bubble. Add the fried cauliflower to a large bowl then pour the sauce on top. Toss the cauliflower until well coated then garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy!
