Apple Butter Sage Whiskey Sour

Fall, personified in a drink. You're welcome. Sip this while snuggled up in front of the fire.

Makes 2

 

For the sour mix:

1 cup sugar 

1 cup water

2/3 cups fresh lemon juice

2/3 cups fresh lime juice

2 sprigs of sage

 

For the cocktail:

3 oz Whiskey 

1 cup sour mix

4 tbsp Chinese 5 Spiced Apple Butter 

Ice 

Dried apple slices and fresh Sage to garnish 

 

For the sour mix:

Combine sugar, water, and 2 fresh sage leaves over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add lemon and lime juices and stir. Remove from heat, take out the sage leaves, and cool completely. Refrigerate until cold or overnight. 

 

In a shaker, place ice, apple butter, whiskey, and sour mix. Shake until well combined. In 2 low ball glasses, add ice and divide the mixture between them. Garnish with dried apple slices and fresh sage. 

 

Oven Dried Apple Slices:

1-2 small apples

Wash apples thoroughly. Thinly slice apples and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in a 250 degree oven for approximately 1 hour, turn them over and bake for an additional hour or until slightly browned and dried.
